Huge Day for Kickstarter: Over $1.6 Million per day
He, who does not work, shall not eat. They work hard and succeeded. This was the deal of a lifetime with Kickstarter on February 9th, 2012. The company had their largest day of funding. The upfront cost beat the established cost set on February 8, 2012.
In addition, February 10th, 2012, was the day when Kickstarter got one million dollars in funding. Furthermore, the city council of New York City officially supported Kickstarter to give emphasis to community projects which desperately need funding.
This has been a huge day in Kickstart’s history. Some of the events were chronicled on their blog. The 24-hour span occurred between Wednesday at 6:54 p.m. and 6:44 p.m. Thursday evening. Two one million dollar projects were on the line during that day. In addition, a major political speech concerning the company was released. And, in entertainment, a band is beginning to make a comeback after twenty-plus years of retirement.
Just before 9 o’clock Eastern Standard Time, a new game made by Tim Schafer and 2 Player Productions has been launched. It is called Double Fine Adventure. Almost four hours later, Double Fine Adventure reaches two hundred thousand dollars in pledges. An hour later, Indie band Black Tambourine explores a project in order to set reunion tour dates. This is the first time that they have performed since 1991. Later, eight hours after its debut, Double Fine Adventures eclipses four hundred thousand dollars. Tim Schafer exclaims on his Twitter page, “I love you, world.” At almost ten o’clock in the morning, the Kickstarter team announces that they are a part of Portlandia on Friday night at 10 o’clock on IFC. Almost two hours later at 12:45 at New York City’s City Hall, New York City Councilwoman Christine Quinn provides the announcement that the city will utilize Kickstarter’s projects.
Double Fine finally reaches one million dollars in commits near 6:45 p.m. The event is celebrated between the two costs, San Francisco and New York City. Double Fine has risen to over one and a half million dollars for the adventure game. The game is available on the iPhone.
So, it was a great week for Kickstarter! Congratulations!
